Elois Woodell Thorn-Moore
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home
Elois Woodell Thorn-Moore, age 93, of Galveston passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at Turner Geriatric Center in Galveston. Funeral services are 10:00 am Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home with the Reverend Gene Gloor officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Elois was born February 11, 1914 in Fort Worth, Texas to Dell Festus and Hattie Woodell. She married Jack Thorn and with him owned and operated Nu-Way Interior Designs in Galveston. Elois had her master’s degree in education and loved to work with children. She worked for GISD as a teacher and began the education program to children in hospitals and homebound in the 1960’s. After Jack’s death, Elois married Edwin Marshall Moore in 1987.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Jack Thorn and Edwin Marshall Moore, and a brother, Parker Woodell and his wife. She is survived by her godson, Stephen Decker Melcer and wife Sarah and their daughter, Hannah Melcer all of Galveston; a faithful friend, Vera Carmona and devoted caregiver, Diana Suniga; nieces, Nancy Woodell Callahan, Melissa Woodell, and Susan Woodell all of Arizona.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
