David Robert “Bob” Melville, Jr.
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home
David Robert “Bob” Melville, Jr. age 60 of Galveston passed away, Monday, January 7, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 7:00pm Thursday, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home with Father Niall Nolan officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Bob was born January 24, 1947 in Galveston, Texas, the only child of the late Bob Sr. and Fedis Greenroad Melville. Bob attended Catholic School in Galveston as a youth and graduated from Ball High School in 1965. He went on to earn his Bachelors and Masters degrees in psychology from North Texas State University in Denton (now the University of North Texas). His field of interest was research involving autistic children. He had most recently worked for G & H Towing Co. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and the Dallas Cowboys. In addition, he spent many years happily involved in his children’s activities such as scouts, baseball, and bowling. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Bob is survived by his children, David Joseph Melville, and Elizabeth Grace Melville both of Galveston, his devoted step daughter, Amy Mellen, of Galveston as well as several cousins and numerous island friends.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that Bob be remembered by donating to your favorite charity.
