The Galveston Park Board of Trustees and the various Mardi Gras krewes officially unveiled their posters for Mardi Gras! Galveston 2008 at a reception at the Tremont House.
The official poster, designed by artist Hanna Case, was chosen from entries submitted to and exhibited this summer at the Galveston Art League Gallery on Postoffice Street.

Solita Walker of the Krewe of Aquarius said that she is excited about the festival, which will Aquarius parades will begin and end.

Galveston Mayor Lyda Ann Thomas predicted that Mardi Gras! Galveston 2008 will be a big success. Listen: RealPlayer MP3
"I think
we are going to have as fine a Mardi Gras this year as we have had in year's past," Thomas said. "I'm certainly looking forward to every minute of it."
Mardi Gras! Galveston 2008 begins on January 25 and continues through February 5, featuring 11 parades and more than 50 activities over two weekends.
"Offering fun for kids of all ages, activities will include a beachfront carnival, pageants, costume contests, galas and processionals," said the official news release. "The event has something for kids of all ages. With routes including the Seawall and downtown, parades will range from elaborate day and nighttime spectacles to a children’s, as well as a pet parade."
