Edward Charles “Junior” Gondesen, Jr.Mr. Edward Charles “Junior” Gondesen, Jr. passed from this life Thursday, January 24, 2008, at his home.

Born June 30, 1929 in Galveston, TX, Mr. Gondesen had been a resident of Texas City for 42 years, previously of Galveston.  He graduated from the Metropolitan Business College in Galveston and had worked as a carpenter with Todd Shipyards for 15 years and in maintenance at Mainland Center Hospital for 4 years before retiring in 1994.  He served in the US Marine Corps, was of the Catholic faith, was a member of the Carpenter’s Local and enjoyed spending time playing the guitar and playing practical jokes.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 40 years, Carolyn, and parents, Edward and Rosalie (Bertolino) Gondesen.

Survivors include his son, Mark Gondesen and wife, Sarah of San Antonio; daughters, Bobette Boettcher and husband, Mark of Shawnee Mission, KS, Shirley Clausen and husband, Steve of La Marque, Kathy Korn and husband, Wade of Texas City, Linda Myers of Texas City; brothers, Robert Lee Gondesen and wife, Elaine of La Marque, John L. Gondesen and wife Joan of Cypress, Dr. Anthony Gondesen of Galveston; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor Dueward Wimberly officiating.  Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Bryan Boettcher, Derek Boettcher, Johnny Burns, Aaron Crump, Anthony Gondesen and Charlie Holmes.  Honorary bearers will be Tommy Alexander, Bobby Gondesen and Johnny Gondesen.

Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.
