Harvey Lee Ashmore, Jr.
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Harvey Lee Ashmore, Jr.Harvey Lee Ashmore, Jr., 70, of Galveston, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2008 at his residence in Galveston, Texas. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Thursday, January 31, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church in Texas City with the Reverend Skip Erlich officiating.  Entombment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock with military honors and taps being played by his grandson Joseph Stone . Visitation will be held at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont, in Galveston on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Harvey was born in Manor, Texas on October 9, 1937 to Harvey Lee and Jewel Soloman Ashmore. He was retired as Staff Manager fo Washington National Life Insurance Company and a Life Underwriter. He was a member of the National Rifle Association., and member of the National Rifle Association.  He  received an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy for service during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Texas City.

Mr.  Ashmore loved the Country especially during Deer Hunting Season and enjoyed football.

Preceded in death by his parents he is survived by his wife, Nancy Ashmore of Galveston; daughters, Kimberley Ashmore Chamberlain and Son-In-Law, William Chamberlain of Texas City and Lourie Werner of La Marque; son, William Werner of Santa Fe; sister, Dorothy Ashmore of Galveston; grandchildren, Joseph Stone, Kristine Stone, Lisa Werner and Rebekah Werner; other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be William Werner, Bill Chamberlain, Winfred Chamberlain and Joseph Stone.

Memorials may be made in Harvey’s name to The M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.
