Jim Guidry Commentaries Hurricane Ike Remembered
In Remembrance
Christopher Jamal Boyd, Jr. “Lil Chris”
E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary

“The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away: blessed be the name of the Lord.”
Job 1:21
On February 17, 2001, Christopher and Tanika Boyd were blessed with a handsome baby boy name Christopher Jamal Boyd, Jr., known as “Lil Chris” to many and “Brother” to his sisters.  God called him to his heavenly home on Monday, January 28, 2008.

Christopher’s six years on earth was short, but the impact he left will last a lifetime.  He was very energetic and strong.  He loved to laugh and make others laugh.  He was very outspoken and had the hospital staff and others taking orders from him.  He was very smart and wise for his age and didn’t let his limitations stop him.  God left him here to show us that man may put limits on us but with God all things are possible.

He really loved his father.  He knocked on his parents bedroom door one morning and when they asked who is it, Lil Chris said, “It’s me daddy, your only son.”   He was truly a daddy’s boy.

His great grandmother Geneva Bertrand precedes Christopher in death.

Christopher leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted parents Christopher Sr. and Tanika Boyd; sisters: Bryanna Hubbard-Wilson, Krishana Boyd and Kharizma Boyd; grandparents: Patricia Atkins, Kimberly Boyd and Jimmy Nelson, Sr.: great grandparents: Erma Boyd Nelson, Johnny and Riley Boyd; aunts: Jessica Hubbard, Rashawndra Hubbard and Janatrecia Henry; uncles: STG 2(SW) Nelson, Brodrick and Jimmy Nelson, Jr.; godmothers Kiska Boyd and Rashawndra Hubbard; numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends.

Special thanks to Mrs. Pat Reddick his nurse; Ms. Arla Sprouse his home school teacher; the staff at Hermann Memorial Hospital, Texas Children Hospital, UTMB in Galveston, Dr. Colorsurdo, Dr. John and Dr. Smith.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2008 followed by a wake from 7-9 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 734 FM 1942 – P.O. Box 229, Crosby, TX  77532.  A service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 2023 Godfrey, McNair, TX  77521 with Pastor Thomas Herd, officiating.  He will be laid to rest in St. Martin Cemetery, Crosby, TX.
