Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Eleanora Matilda MullenEleanora Matilda Mullen, 99, of Galveston, born January 8, 1909, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008, at her residence in Galveston.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 2nd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Father John Paul Flajole, OFM, officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Friday, February 1st, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston.

Eleanora’s passion was helping people.  She worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital.  She also worked at the Department of Health Education & Welfare as a traveling nurse, going door to door to provide health services to her patients. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; parents, Frank and Justina Machac; brothers: Bohemier, Theodore, Konrad, and Englebert; sisters:  Marcella Akkola, Maxine Saunders, Ernestine Bauch, Martha Hayes, Hermina Machac, Justina Anderson, Josephine McAnaugh, and Helen Walker.

Eleanora is survived by her nephews, John and Justin Anderson; and Dennis Akkola and wife, Patti; nieces, Sandra Hannibal and husband, Alex; and Gail Fiel and husband, Don; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Eleanora’s dedicated and compassionate caregivers, as well as Hospice Care Team, Inc., of Texas City for the exceptional care they provided.
