Gerald Gene Hayek, Sr., age 68, of Galveston passed away Friday, February 1, 2008 at Seabreeze Care Center in Texas City. Graveside services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, with the Reverend Alex Yvoan officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home of Galveston. Visitation will be held from 8:00 am until 9:30 am Tuesday at the funeral home.
Gerald was born September 5, 1939 in Galveston, Texas to William Henry Hayek and Elsie Vickery Hayek. He was a CPA and of the Catholic Faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country with honor.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a wife, Mary Stacy Hayek, and a great grandson, Aarron Robert Mauldin. Survivors include his daughter, Sabrina Mauldin and husband Robert of Hitchcock; sons, Gerald G. Hayek, Jr. and wife Betina of Washington, State; Bernard Hayek and William Hayek both of South Dakota, and Christopher Earl Sipps and wife Elizabeth Jean of Austin; sister, Sharon Ross and husband Robert; brother, Robert Earl Hayek and companion Buddy all of Galveston; grandchildren, Diana, Jonathan, Justin, and Andrew Mauldin all of Hitchcock, Jonathan, Katheryn, and Christopher Paul Sipps, all of Austin; and Max and Nicolas Hayek of Washington State; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
