Patricia (Patsy) Sheppard
Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Patricia (Patsy) SheppardPatricia (Patsy) Sheppard, 75, of Galveston, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008, at Turner Geriatric Center in Galveston.

Patsy’s family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Monday, February 18th, at Malloy & Son Funeral home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 19th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Pastor John Allums officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

Patsy was born December 10, 1932, in Galveston, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of the island.  She graduated from Ball High School with the Class of 1950 and worked as a teacher’s aide for Galveston ISD.  Patsy later worked in the mail room at UTMB, retiring in 1994.  She was a member of the Galveston Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Thomas Gillane.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Sheppard; sons, Daniel Lee Sheppard and wife, Hope; and Michael Joseph Sheppard and wife, Julie; grandchildren: Lauren Sheppard and Jim Hardin; great grandchildren: Lynn, Dylan, and Shannon Hardin; sisters, Melba Gillane and Phyllis Goins; brothers, Thomas Gillane and wife, Doris, and Daniel Gillane and wife, Susan; “adopted” grandson, Brad Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jim Hardin, Lynn Hardin, Dylan Hardin, Jimmy Gillane, Joseph Gillane, and Allen Oliver.  Honorary pallbearers will be John Karacostas, John Schreiber, Billy Nelson, and R. A. Apffel.

Patsy’s family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Turner Geriatric Center, 2nd and 3rd floor; and to Hospice Care Team, especially Jan, for their loving care and concern for Patsy and her family.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
