William R. “Butch” Conway
Malloy & Son Funeral Home

William R. “Butch” ConwayWilliam R. “Butch” Conway, 63, of Galveston, passed away Friday, February 22, 2008, at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

 

His family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 26th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 27th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Guthier officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.  The funeral procession will be led by Butch’s nephew, David Gordon Pean, Galveston Police Department.

 

Butch, a “BOI,” was born on July 2, 1944, to Ernest William Conway and Everdine Wilhelmina Collier.  He grew up at Camp Conway, a Swim Camp on Biovu, on Offatts Bayou.  He attended Galveston public schools and graduated from Ball High in 1962.  Butch served in the United States Air Force 1966-1969.  He retired from Amoco Oil Company as a computer analyst after 30 years of service.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ernest William Conway, Jr.

Butch is survived by his daughters, Karen Suzanne Conway and Debra Ann Conway, both of Austin; and Wendy Conway Ogden and husband, Meredith, of Galveston; grandchildren, Meagan Conway, Lee Conway, Reece Ogden, and Emma Ogden; sister, Virginia Sue Pean; sister-in-law, Dorothy Conway; nephew, David Gordon Pean; niece, Cynthia Pean; niece, Rebecca Conway White, and numerous other cousins, family members, and friends.


Pallbearers will be Noah Rice, John Rice, Meredith Ogden, Ray Short, Lawrence Leimer, and Wade Bailey.  Honorary pallbearers are Lee Conway and Reece Ogden.
