Bernard L. Diaz
J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home
Bernard L. Diaz, age 81, passed away Monday, February 25, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on August 19, 1926. He was the owner and operator of Diaz Service Center for 38 years. He was a member of The Elks Lodge #126, the Knights of Columbus #787 and VFW Post #880. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in which he received a purple heart. He was also on the Auxillary Police Force in Galveston until 1974.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Alicia Jean Diaz.
He is survived by his wife Caroline Diaz; daughters Laura Tacquard and husband Henry, Debra Diaz and husband Carlos and Kacey Diaz; sons Bernard Diaz, Jr. and wife Deanna and Steven Diaz; 3 brothers; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M, with a Rosary to begin at 6:30 P.M.
Immediately following the Rosary, The Elks Lodge #126 will perform a ceremony. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father John Paul Flajole officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Milo, Harry Milo, Gregory West, Tommy Knotts, Ruben Elizondo and Francisco Castillo.
The family would like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice, especially Jenny and Ida, for their special care during this difficult time.
