Bennie Bob Holbert, Jr.Bennie Bob Holbert, Jr., 36, fought a good fight, but was called home on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at UTMB Hospital in Galveston.

Bennie was born July 27, 1971, in Galveston to Bennie Bob Holbert, Sr. and Genell Simmons. He attended Ball High School, and worked as laborer in the refinery industry in Texas City.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents and wife, Sheryl Rena Smith- Holbert. 

He leaves to cherish memories of his life, parents, Bennie Bob Holbert, Sr.;  Genell and James Simmons of Galveston; brothers, Gregory and Ricky Holbert, both of Galveston; sisters, Janice Evans of Texas City, Tomeika Holbert of Galveston; uncles, Melton Evans, Ernest Holbert; aunts, Jessie Mae Hampton (Amos), Doris Holbert, and Billie Jean Holbert; girlfriend, Shana Tatum; nephew, Mark Holmes, Jr.; nieces, Charnell Holmes, and Lawanna Holbert, and a host other relatives and friends. Special thanks to all the staff in SICU of UTMB.

Viewing will begin on Friday, March 14th at 4 p.m. followed by a wake from 7- 8:00 p.m. A service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. in the chapel of E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary with Rev. Timothy Allen, Sr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston.
