Mary Lee Thompson, 80, received her reward of eternal rest on Friday, March 21, 2008, at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.
Mary was born on April 17, 1927 in Wharton County, Texas to Brewster and Roberta Williams Black. A longtime resident of Galveston before moving to San Antonio with her daughter, she was the owner of Thompson Personal Care Home before her retirement.
A past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Holy Rosary, she also was a member of the Heroines of Jericho. Her love for personal care enabled her to receive the Best Personal Home Care Provider Award.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David Thompson; brothers, C. L.; Brewster, Jr., and Edward Black; and niece, Marjorie Cook.
Left with the precious memories of her wonderful life is her daughters, Deborah Fonteno; Betty Elaine Hunter, and her devoted daughter and caregiver, Pamela Thompson; sons, Jejuan Guillory (Deidre) and Kyle Guillory, whom were blessed with two mothers; grandchildren, Ronald Ray Hunter, Jr. and Brittany Alese Hunter; brothers, Wilbert Black and John Black; sisters, Zara Lee Black; Jeanette Russell; Esther Richardson, and Sophia Jones; special friends, Thomasine Allen; Rev. Durand Simpson, and Father Paul Banet of Holy Rosary; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28th from 4-8PM at E R Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the Mt Olive Baptist Church with Pastor N. D. Burkley, Sr. officiating. She will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery.
