Cornell “Danny” Kahla, Sr.

Cornell “Danny” Kahla, Sr., age 80, went to be with Jesus on March 26, 2008. Danny was born on November 20, 1927. He loved gardening/farming and supplied those he loved with fresh vegetables and fruit all his life. He was retired from UTMB Hospital after 20 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cornell O. and Katie B. Kahla; sister Betty Strimple; and nephew Melvin Kahla.
Survivors include his wife Mary; son Danny Jr. and grandsons Daniel, III and Buckner; daughter Leigh Ann and fiancé Dennis and grandsons Jason, Todd Jr., and Broc; son Maurice and wife Kathy and grandsons Reese and Josh; great-grandchildren Rhett and Kinlee; brothers Fred, C.W. & Butch; sisters Teresa and Bessie; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
Visitation will be held at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Port Bolivar, Texas on Friday, March 28, 2008 beginning at 5:00 P.M., with a Rosary to be held at 6:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10:00 A.M., with Father Joseph Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow at the Port Bolivar Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Reese Kahla, Josh Kahla, Jason Franklin, Todd Adams, Jr., Broc Adams, Daniel Kahla III, Buckner Kahla and Garrett Jones.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 570127, Houston, Texas 77257-0127.
