Born August 3, 1923 in Honey Island, TX, Mrs. Herford had been a resident of
Hitchcock since 1962, previously of Louisiana. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, roles which she enjoyed very much and a member of First Baptist Church of Hitchcock where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Mrs. Herford loved the Lord and always saw the humorous side of life.
She was preceded in death by parents, Jim and Elma (Messer) Duff and brothers, Barney and W.C. Duff.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 63 years, Lamar Herford, Sr. of
Hitchcock; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Joyce Herford of Texas City;
brothers, M.H. Duff of Hull, David Duff of Pasadena, Jim Duff, Jr. of Coldsprings; sister, Linda and R.O. Nolte of Hardin; grandchildren, Jimmy Herford and wife, Amy, Pamela Jones and husband, Patrick; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Emma, Savannah, Duncan and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Guedry Cemetery, Pastor Chad Overton officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
