Sara Meyer, 82, of Galveston, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008, at her residence.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Monday, March 31st, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Father Bill Bartniski officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
The family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Sunday, March 30th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 6:00 pm, led by Father Bill Bartniski.
Sara was born September 4, 1925, in Galveston, Texas. She graduated from Ball High School and worked as a PBX Operator at the Jack Tar Hotel. Sara cared for many children throughout the years, earning her nickname, “Nanny.”
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe “Bubba” Meyer, Jr.; and her brother, Adolph “Jimmy” Garcia.
Sara is survived by her sons, Raymond Meyer and wife, Karen; and Frank Meyer and wife, Laurie; daughter, Julie Meyer Jones and husband, Don; seven grandchildren: Kacey Meyer Selken and husband, Eric; Lindsey Meyer Griffin and husband, Brian; Christina Meyer Moore and husband, Jarrad; Christopher Meyer; Daniel Meyer; Sara Jones; and Elizabeth Jones; great granddaughter, Abigail Moore; brother, Paul Garcia and wife, Irene; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jarrad Moore, Don Jones, Christopher Meyer, Daniel Meyer, Eric Selken, and Frank Meyer.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to AMED Hospice for their compassionate care, as well as to special family friend, Katrina Jencks, for her love, kindness, and dedication to Nanny.
