Mable McCoyMable McCoy, age 92, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at UTMB Hospital. She was born on April 27, 1915 in Rockdale, Texas to the late Oscar and Ella Callaway.
She attended Gay Hill Elementary school and graduated from Thorndale High School. She also attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton, Texas where she received a teaching certificate. She was married to Hardy McCoy on May 23, 1936 in Rockdale where they lived until they moved to Galveston in July 1941.
Hardy preceded her in death on June 26, 1995; in addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
She taught school for twelve years in Galveston, and then went to work at UTMB in Unit Management for nineteen years. Her greatest joys in life were being a devoted wife to Hardy for over 59 years, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a longtime member of Central Christian Church in Galveston, and did volunteer work in addition to being president of the Christian Women’s Fellowship of the church.
Survivors include her son Wayne McCoy and wife Eileen of Galveston, granddaughters Susan Richard and husband Chad of Nederland, Texas, Rebecca Knape and husband Carlton of Austin, Texas, and great-grandsons Jonathon, Benjamin and Myles Wayne.  Other survivors include her brother J.E. Callaway and wife Dorothy of Beaumont, Texas, two sisters Mary Palermo and husband Sam of Bryan, Texas, and Dorothy Bolton of Rowlett, Texas, as well as many other relatives and dear friends whom she cherished.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home, with Reverend John Allums officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
