Monte Lee Potter

Monte Lee Potter, age 61, of Crystal Beach, died after a long battle with cancer, Thursday, April 24, 2008, at The Veterans Hospital in Houston.
Monte was born May 13, 1947 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Russell and Myrtle Edith Cission Potter. He grew up in Mesquite, Texas. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy and was a Petty Officer with 6 years of service. After his service to his country he worked in his uncle’s paint and body shop in Tyler, Texas before moving to the coast. He worked on and had his own shrimp boat for many years before starting Potter Construction Company. Monte loved boating, was real involved in the community; he enjoyed working the crab festival and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Debbie Potter of Crystal Beach; daughter, Michelle Mayo; step daughter, Carrie Goeloe; step son, Chad Walters; grandchildren; Summer and Heidi Goeloe, Brittany Walters, and Aiden Walters; brothers, Johnny Potter of Galveston, and Fred Huddleston; sister, Ann Huddleston of Mesquite, nephews, Chester Potter and Matthew Potter; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services are pending.
