Sadie Elizabeth Dethloff
Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Sadie Elizabeth DethloffSadie Elizabeth Dethloff, 93, of Galveston, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008, at Harbourview Care Center in League City.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, May 3rd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Herb Polinard officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, conducted by Rev. Herb Polinard and the Order of the Eastern Star.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Friday, May 2nd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.

Sadie was born August 14, 1914, in Galveston, Texas and graduated from Ball High School.  She retired from Galveston ISD as a teacher’s assistant.  Sadie was an active lifelong member of Central Christian Church where she taught Primary Bible Study.  She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and was very active in the Rainbow Girls, having served as a past Mother Advisor and also having earned the Grand Cross of Color.  This coming July, Sadie would have celebrated her 50th year of membership in the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past Worthy Matron.  She also enjoyed family gatherings and friendships.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents; 8 brothers and sisters; and her husband of more than 60 years, Herbert J.W. Dethloff, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Kay Rittenhouse and husband, William; son, Herbert J.W. Dethloff, Jr. and wife, Cindy; grandchildren: Kimberly Kay Miller and husband, Mike; William J. Rittenhouse, III; Abi Griffin and husband, Rick; and Brad Dethloff and wife, Heather; great grandchildren Justina Kay Miller, Steven Miller, and Mari Griffin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Roger Freeman, Charles Paschetag, Steven Ireland, Russell Williams, James Sweatt, Mitch Pratt, and Mike Miller.  Billy Paschetag and Gerald Paschetag will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Harbourview Care Center for their loving and compassionate care.
