Alice Garza
Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Alice GarzaAlice Garza, 63, of Galveston, joined her beloved parents and brothers in heaven on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, following a brief illness.

Born in Brownsville, Texas, to Gabriel and Julia Soto, she was the 8th of nine children.  A studious teenager, Alice soon met the love of her life and future husband, Ruben Garza.  After high school, she began a course of study in Dental Technology as she and her beloved husband began their family and life together.  Alice went on to own and operate her own dental laboratory.  A devoted mother of four children, she dedicated herself to providing all that she could for her children.

An enthusiastic volunteer, she was involved in many of her children’s school activities and sports and never missed a game.  Alice graciously committed to the care of her aging parents and lovingly provided for them until their death.  The proud and boastful grandmother of eight, she decorated every room of her house with photos, artwork, and cards of her grandchildren.  A faithful Christian, the word of God provided the foundation for her life.  Prior to her illness, she was actively involved in church and contributed as a group leader to young girls.

Alice will live on in the hearts of those she left behind:  her husband, Ruben Garza; daughters, Patti Muniz and husband, Paul, parents of Alec and Paul; Julie Dobelmann and husband, Daniel, parents of Taylor and Daniel; Norma and Kelly Contella, parents of Jake, Richard, and Kelly; son, Ruben Garza and wife, Susan, parents of Ashley.  Alice was reunited in heaven with her beloved parents and brothers, Jose Soto, Juan Soto, Luis Soto, and nephew, Roel Soto.  She will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.

Alice’s family will receive visitors after 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 3rd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  Funeral service will begin at 4:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home, led by Pastor Rudy Soto.
