GALVESTON - Herbert F. Robinson, Jr., 51, departed this life on Sunday, May 4, 2008, at his residence surround by his family.
Herbert was born on to the union of the late Herbert, Sr. and Vera Brown Robinson on November 26, 1956, in Galveston, Texas. He attended public school in Galveston and served in the U. S. Army. Herbert was employed for 15 years with the City Galveston, working as a supervisor of the water department until his health began to fail. He was well known for this hard work and a great sense of humor. He also enjoyed watching movies and sports, especially basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Treasured memories of Herbert's life will live on with his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Tunja Walker Robinson; sons, Kendrick Benjamin (Quarisha); Brandon Walker (Ashley); Herbert III; Shannon, and Roshawn Robinson (Lucille); grandchildren, Brandolyn Walker; Zion Davis; Coriana Robinson; Jamaya Jefferson; T T Jones; Shannon Robinson, Jr.; Brandon Walker, Jr., and Kincade Benjamin; brothers, Richard Robinson of Galveston; Rev. Jeffery Robinson, Sr. (Lillie) of Jasper; Gerald Robinson (Lora) of La Marque, and Patrick Robinson, Sr. of Houston; sisters, Othella Taylor (Joseph), and Regina Jackson (James) both of Galveston; uncles, Joseph Robinson, and Jessie Brown, Sr. (Grace); aunts, Eslen Love; Gloria Miles; Fannie Hightower (Edward); Theresa Williams all of Galveston; Godchild, Gerladisha Robinson; father and mother in law, Mr. Leon and Roberta Walker of Galveston; brother in-law, Darrell, Devron, Donnie (Jackie), and Donald (Janoise); sisters in law Brandy “Nikki” Smith (Toras); daughter in law, Ashley Warner; devoted friends; Mike Garner; Katie Taver; Charles Bell; Larry Parson; Rodney Smith and Wintha Rittenhouse; and a host of other relatives and friend.
Viewing will be held on Friday, May 9th, from 2-5pm at E R Johnson Family Mortuary, and will continue at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where the family would like to invite all of their friends and his co-workers to share with them in a memorial service from 7-9PM, where expression of sympathy will be allowed.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 10, 2008, also at the church with Pastor N. D. Burkley, Sr. officaiting. He will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery.
