Bertha Leona Mosley Allen

Bertha Leona Mosley Allen was born June 5, 1938, in Galveston, Texas, to the union of the late Dewey and Viola Brown Mosley.  She was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1956.  Bertha was employed by the Galveston Independent School District in the capacity of nutritional and custodial services for over 25 years.  After retiring she later went on to work for the Galveston County Senior Aide Program until she became ill.
At an early age, she along with other family members, were very active at Shiloh A.M. E. Church, and she later went on to become a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.  While at Mt. Moriah, she was an active member of the Senior Choir and Mission #2.  Bertha had an abundant love for singing, cooking, helping others, and feeding the elderly.  Her grand and great grand kids were a strong focal point in her life.  Bertha departed this life on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Gulf Health Care Center in Texas City, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents;  brother, Franklin Mosley; son, Larry Mosley and sister, Eldora Mosley Mitchell.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Nathaniel Allen of Galveston, Texas; children, Howard Mosley of Galveston, Texas, Ida Bishop of Galveston, Texas, Clarence Mosley Sr. (Delinda) of Texas City, Texas and Cheryl Ware of Galveston, Texas; grandchildren, Chaz Murphy, Bryant Hall, Farsheed Sebah, James C. Beldon, Sherry Sanchez, Chasidy Mosley, Nathaniel Graves, Charlotte Bishop, Clarence Mosley, Jr., Corithan Hunter, Anthony Roberts, Ida Ray, Chloe Britton, Dana Webb, Monique Britton, and D'Angelo Mosley; great-grandchildren, Chazmine Murphy, Zachia Murphy, Johnny Hiley, Christopher Hall, Christian Hall and Trentshon Mack, Jr.; godchild, Jolice Mosley; siblings, J. D, Mosley (Jeanette), A.D. Mosley (Genieva), Lionel Mosley (Frankie), Annie McBeth, Arthur Mosley (Geneve), Betty Thomas, Flora Bell and a host of nieces, nephews and family members.
Special thanks to the UTMB emergency department staff, AMED Community Hospice, Texas City, Gulf Health Care, Texas City, Dr. Maria Nicole Luna,  J-10 Tower Geriatric Unit, Gary Kattrell, Harbour View Care Center, League City and Edgewater Community Center, Galveston for your tender care, prayers. love and support.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Shiloh A.M. E. Church, 1310-29th Street, Galveston, Texas, prior to the 1:00 p.m. Homegoing Celebration.  Reverend Eric Billips will officiate.
Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston.
