Marie Hunt Byers, 97, long time resident of Galveston, passed away on May 25, 2008 in The Woodlands, TX, joining her beloved parents and 11 brothers and sisters in heaven.

Born in Morgan City, LA on December 3, 1910 to Peter and Adele Ghirardi, she grew up in Morgan City and moved to Galveston in 1936. A devoted wife and mother, she dedicated herself to her family. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting and traveling. Marie was a past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Marie will live on in the hearts of those she left behind. She is preceded in death by her husband Guy Eddie Hunt, Sr.; parents, Peter and Adele Ghirardi; and 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three loving children, Guy Eddie Hunt, Jr. of Houston, TX, Catherine Hunt Smith and husband Bobby Smith of The Woodlands, TX, David Hunt and wife Krystina Hunt of North Fork, CA and daughter-in-law, Liz Hunt Villarreal. Her grandchildren, Cindi Ondreias, Bene Martinez, Stephanie Smith, Susan Smith-Soncrant, Elizabeth Marie Hunt, David Hunt and Jason Hunt and her great grandchildren, Christopher Ondreias, Riley Franklin, Rayven Franklin and Ashley Smith.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, May 28th from 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  A rosary will be held at 10:00 am.  Following visitation, Funeral Mass will be held at St Patrick's Church at 12:00 Noon with Father John Paul Flajole as Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Old Catholic Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Ronnie Ghirardi, Kevin Horne, Steve Long, Bene Martinez and Jim Villarreal.
