Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Benjamin CoronadoBenjamin Coronado, 71, of Galveston, departed from this life on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.  Funeral services will be at 10 am, Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas; burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.  The family will receive visitors at the funeral home beginning 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2008. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.

Benjamin was born May 31, 1937 in Monterrey, Mexico to Jesus and Apolonia Coronado.   He along with his wife, Anastacia, moved to Galveston 41 years ago and have been residents of the island since then.  He retired as a merchant marine.   He had a passion for working on cars and helping others. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many and he will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his father Jesus Coronado, mother Apolonia Coronado Pinales and brother Gabriel Coronado.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Anastacia Coronado, sons Benjamin Coronado Jr., Jesse Coronado, Milton Coronado Sr., Thomas Coronado Sr. and a daughter, Marbella Ponce.  Grandchildren: Milton Coronado Jr., Erika Coronado, Cristina Coronado, Alex Coronado, Thomas Coronado Jr., Asia Coronado Ponce, Kayla Ponce, Jacob Coronado, Cameron Coronado, Tyler Coronado and Vanessa Coronado.  Great Grandchildren: Aleya Coronado and Zoe Coronado.  He is also survived by loving siblings brother Julian Coronado; sisters Teresa Rincon, Florentina Montoya, and Elva Sifuentes.    Close relatives include Elvia Salinas, Cristal Gonzalez, Moises Coronado, and Juan Hinojosa; and dear friend Misael Garcia; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Milton Coronado Jr., Alex Coronado, Thomas Coronado Jr., Brian Ponce, Dakar Leonel Cuevas, and Jose Cuevas.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at UTMB for their hard work and amazing support.
