Patsy Ruth Johnson
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home
Patsy Ruth Johnson, age 79, of died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Mainland Medical Center Hospital in Texas City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 6, 2008 at Westpoint Baptist Church with the Reverend Kerry Tillman officiating. Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 9:00 A.M. on Friday.
Patsy was born January 13, 1929 in Galveston, Texas to Willis and Lorena Guidry Jackson. She was a member of the Central High School class of 1948 and a faithful member of Westpoint Baptist Church and active in the women’s missionary work. She was an employee of Galveston Independent School District retiring with over 20 years of service.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe D. Johnson, Jr. who passed away in 1997, and 3 brothers, Patsy is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Taylor and husband David of Dickinson, and Cynthia Harris and husband Jerome of League City; sons, Joe D. Johnson, III and wife Sharon of Kemah, Ellis Johnson and wife Cynthia of Houston, and Donald Johnson of Montgomery; brothers, James M. Jackson and wife Niomi of Galveston; aunt, Alma Hayes of Los Angeles, California; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
