Galveston, TX… Thursday, June 5 marks the official grand opening of the new Moody Gardens® Golf Course, and operations are already in full swing. More than two years and $16 million have been invested into the course’s comprehensive renovations, resulting in a layout that is more pleasing to see and play.
Special pre-opening events and tournaments have allowed local officials, media and former Galveston Municipal golfers to be the first to experience the improvements. Among the most notable, country singer Clay Walker participated in the first round of golf played on the newly completed course.
“Everyone I spoke with at the events had positive things to say,” said General Manager Bill Pushak. “They were amazed at how much better the course looks and had a great time playing it.”
Future patrons are sure to be impressed with the lush, salt-resistant paspalum grass, beautiful landscaping and 500 palm trees covering the 135,000 feet of the 6,900 yard, par 72 links-style course. The course also boasts a new golf cart fleet, remodeled clubhouse and grill, six rerouted holes and new irrigation system.
Eager players can now make tee time requests up to seven days in advance.
Annual green fee passes are available for purchase, and seniors and Galveston city and county residents can take advantage of special green fee discounts. Tournament and banquet packages are also offered.
