William Copado passed away Friday, June 6, 2008 at The University of Texas Medical Branch surrounded by his family. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father John Paul Flajole and Father Hector Medina (nephew of Mr. Copado) celebrants. Graveside services will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm.

William was born in Galveston on July 11, 1932 to Angel and Ignacia Copado. He graduated from Kirwin High School in 1952, served in the Unites States Air Force during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Theresa Medina.
He was employed by Lykes Bros. Steamship Company and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also employed by The University of Texas Medical Branch and retired in 1998. He was a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Council # 787.
Preceded in death by his parents, Angel and Ignacia Copado, and brothers Faustino Copado and Joe Copado, William is survived by his wife of forty eight years, Theresa Copado. Sons, William David and wife, Rita, Robert Joseph and girlfriend, Dana Delgado, John Daniel and wife, Laura, Christopher Charles, and wife, Janie, daughter, Theresa Suzanne Silva and husband, Robert. He's also survived by his brothers: Miguel Copado and wife, Lila, Angel Copado, Jr. and wife, Beatrice, Lupe Copado and wife, Mary Ellen, Severo Copado and wife, Valentine, and sister-in-law, Antonia Copado. Grandchildren: Ronnie Romero and wife, Blanca, Crystal Maria Copado, Celeste Nicole Copado, William David Copado, Jr., Timothy Daniel Copado, Adrianna Suzanne Copado, John Jay Moreno, Christopher Charles Copado, II, Noah Paul Copado, Sara Elyse Silva, Lauren Danielle Copado, Leah Celeste Silva, great grandchildren: Anthony Shane Copado, Ava Isabella Romero, and numerous nieces and nephews.
One of Mr. Copado's favorite joys was spending time with his grandchildren at the Knights of Columbus pool (family night). Always present at their baseball games, dance recitals, piano recitals and school activities. He was also an avid sports fan, never missing a Houston Astros or Dallas Cowboys game. He was always willing to lend a hand to whomever needed it. He was a faithful volunteer with the Moody Gardens Mardi Gras party for disabled children as well as helping with the Galveston Catholic School bazaar.
Serving as Mr. Copado's pallbearers will be his sons: Robert Joseph, John Daniel, Christopher Charles, grandsons: William David, Timothy Daniel, and son-in-law, Robert Silva.
His family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to his caregivers at The University of Texas Medical Branch SICU and Father John Paul Flajole of St. Patrick's Catholic Church for his constant visits and prayers.
