Elizabeth Ann SampsonElizabeth Ann Sampson age 58, of Galveston passed away  Monday, June 9, 2008, at the Anahuac Health Care Center in Anahuac, Texas.

Memorial services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Monday, June 16, 2008 at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica with Father Brendan Murphy, SVD celebrant.

Elizabeth was born October 4, 1949 in Galveston, Texas the 2nd child to Milton George Sampson, Jr. and Billie Rosemary Walsh Sampson. With a bright smile and infectious laugh, she excelled at everything she tried, from cheerleading in school to volunteer work at UTMB Hospital. Elizabeth was a well-read person who was an accomplished artist in oils and acrylics; she loved to dance, to cook, and among her numerous friends was always the life of the party. A long term illness brought her many highs and lows in her life, but through it all she persevered with deep devotion to her Catholic Faith, and help of her family.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father, Milton George Sampson, Jr., and a sister, Tillie Ritz. Survivors include her daughter, Kimberley, of California, mother, Billie Rosemary Sampson, of Lake Jackson, Texas, sisters, Helen Bashline and husband J.D. of Galveston, Patty Kilian and husband Dr. Robert Kilian of Lake Jackson, Texas, Joan Schmidt and husband Eugene of Galveston, brothers, Milton Sampson, III and wife Dr. Barbara Pickering of Galveston, and Daniel Sampson of Orlando, Florida, nieces and nephews, George Schmidt and wife Yvette, Blake Schmidt, Brian Sampson, and Corey Labuzan.

Memorials may be sent to the St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica Restoration Fund, 2011 Church Street Galveston, Texas 77550.

The family would like to thank all of Elizabeth’s friends who stayed by her through all the years, as well as the Compassionate Care Hospice, the Anahuac Health Care Center, and all the health care workers who have given such wonderful care to Elizabeth.
