Edward “Eddie” De Los Santos, Sr.
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Edward “Eddie” De Los Santos, Sr.Edward “Eddie” De Los Santos, Sr. age 64, of Galveston went to his rest with the Lord after a tough and courageous battle with diabetes , Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 16, 2008 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father John Bok OFM, celebrant.  Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00  pm on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at the funeral home with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm led by Deacon Robert Standridge.

Born November 14, 1943 in Hitchcock, Texas to Ralph and Trine De Los Santos, Sr. , Eddie was loved by all that knew him. He was known by many names like Mr. D., Mr. Eddie, Uncle Eddie, Tiny, Dad, Honey, but the one he loved the most was Grand Pa. which he was affectionately called by his only two grand kids that he totally enjoyed spoiling. Mr. De Los Santos was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and the sponsor of the SMAC Club. He enjoyed dancing with his wife and traveling to Coushatta with his friends and family.  He was employed by the housekeeping department as a supervisor at UTMB retiring with over 32 years of service.

Mr. De Los Santos is preceded in death by his father, Ralph De Los Santos, Sr. , a son, Eddie De Los Santos, Jr., and 3 brothers, Ralph, Jr., Dennis and Frank De Los Santos. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Enriqueta De Los Santos; mother, Trine De Los Santos; son, Jimmy De Los Santos, Sr. and wife H. Minnie De Los Santos; sister, Stella Garcia and husband Ernest; brothers, Jerry De Los Santos and wife Janie, Jeff De Los Santos, all of Galveston, and Eugene De Los Santos and wife Jody of Texas City; granddaughter, Helena Gem De Los Santos and grandson, Jimmy De Los Santos, Jr. both of Galveston; close nephews, Mario Serna of Galveston and Lucas Serna of Houston;  numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Mario Serna, Lucas Serna, Eugene Rene De Los Santos, Ernesto Garcia, Jr., Phillip Leyva, Frank Leyva and PFC Christopher D. Alcala, USMC.  Honorary pallbearers are Eugene De Los Santos, Sr., Jimmy De Los Santos, Sr., Jimmy De Los Santos, Jr., Jerry De Los Santos, Jeff De Los Santos, Robert Fentanes, Jimmy Gonzales, Jr., Raymond Gonzales, Jr., Frank Gonzales and Richard Gonzales.

Memorials may be sent to the DaVita Island Dialysis 5920 Broadway Galveston, Texas 77551.

The family would like to thank DaVita Island Dialysis, the Dialysis Unit and the Doctors and staff at UTMB for the wonderful care given to Mr. De Los Santos and a special thank you to Dr. Killiwich and staff.

Mr. D., Mr. Eddie, Uncle Eddie, Tiny, Dad, Honey, and Grand Pa will be deeply missed and forever loved by all.
