Joseph Wilkins, Jr.

Joseph Wilkins, Jr.Joseph Wilkins, Jr., passed from this life on Monday, June 16, 2008, at his residence.

Joseph was born Dec. 22, 1944, in Galveston, TX, to Joseph, Sr. and Annie Lee Wilkins. He was a 1963 graduate of Central High School and later enlisted with the U. S. Army and received the National Defense Service Medal as a sharpshooter. He was a member of Market St. Baptist Church and was formerly employed as a mail carrier with the U. S. Postal Service. He later became a chef at Benno’s Restaurant before his health failed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Johannus “JoJo” Faison.
He leaves with cherished memories, three daughters, Deirnn Wilkins; Ebony Smith (Jason); Roslyne Faison; two sons, Hasani (Tameka) Faison; Christopher Faison; two sisters, Diane Bankston (Frank); Icirean Cooper (Leroy); brother, Joseph Wilkins; ten grandchildren; aunts, Maddie McGowan; Maggie Anderson; Lena Fuller; devoted friends, Wanda Faison; Rick Mosley; Saralyn Brown, and Carl Aldridge; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will begin at 9 AM on Tuesday, June 24th, followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary with Rev N. D. Burkley, Sr. officiating.
