Lake Gloria Rainey CelestineLake Gloria Rainey Celestine fell asleep in death on June 19, 2008. She was born to George Rainey and Pearl Harmon on October 16, 1932, in Lafayette, LA. She was the younger of two children.

She graduated from Central High School of Galveston, TX with honors. In 1949 she dedicated her life to her heavenly father Jehovah and was baptized as one of his Witnesses in New Orleans, LA. For 59 years she was one of God's loyal servants.

She married Willard Celestine AKA “King” on June 2, 1951. From this union 6 children were born. She was employed by American National Insurance Company for 18 years in the Life Underwriting Department and retired from there on December 1, 1995.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband, Job 14:15, 16 asks “if an able-bodied man dies can he live again?” the reply “You will call, and I myself shall answer you, for the work of your hands you will have a yearning.”, II Peter 3:13 says “there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell.”, where according to Revelation 21:4 “he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more.”

Until that time she leaves to mourn her uncle, Dan Harmon and aunt, Mary Lee Isaacs both of Louisiana; her sister, Thelma Rainey Wagner (Wilton) of Texas City, TX; her sister-in-law, Connie Jones (Ezekiel) of Port Arthur, TX; her six children, Jamilah White of Houston, TX; Willard Celestine, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; Jerald Celestine, Sr.(Aletha); Anna Mickens (Roland); Justina Britton all of Texas City, TX; Charles Celestine (Sonia) of Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren; devoted niece, Veronica Collins (Clifford), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at E.R. Johnson Family Mortuary, 3828 Avenue O, Galveston, TX on Friday, June 27th from 5-8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7551 Monticello, Texas City, TX at 1:00 p.m.. Burial will follow at Mainland Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock.
We thank all of our Christian brothers and sisters who showed concern for our mother in any way, cards, flowers, phone calls, meals, visits and most importantly prayers that were said in her behalf. “May the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation” be with you. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4)
