interview is with award winning singer/songwriter and Recording Artist, Kelly McGuire and Hurricane. Listen
In the last three years, Kelly has gone from being a local performer to a national performer, and his songs are now being played internationally. Kelly is living proof that with hard work and dedication, dreams come true.
Kelly has been a professional singer for over twenty years, and has also won many songwriting awards, including the “Songwriter of the Year” in 1997 from the Fort Bend Songwriters Association, and he recently received a song writing award for one his current hit songs, “Youth is Wasted on the Young” from his upcoming CD, “Club Blonde”.
On November 19, 1999, Kelly had over 400 friends and fans help him celebrate his first CD, “REDFISH ISLAND”. “REDFISH ISLAND” has been extremely successful and is currently in its third printing. “REDFISH ISLAND” contains a “Margaritaville Meets Nashville on the Texas Gulf Coast” collection of songs that Kelly wrote and produced about hurricanes, islands, waterspouts and love. Kelly’s unique sound is a blend of steel guitar, steel drums and congas, and Kelly’s fun shows win new fans with every performance.
Kelly performs at a variety of venues, from festivals to conventions, benefits, weddings, community events, and corporate parties, as well as supporting many charitable organizations, and has been the opening act for the American Cancer Society’s Silver Dollar Ball for five years.
Kelly has a new country western CD called “ CLUB BLONDE” that will be released very soon, and is having a tremendous success with three of the songs on that CD. The radio stations are playing “Club Blonde” “Wasted on the Young” and “I Cried for Mama” nationwide. Kelly is now making plans for his upcoming CD Release Party for “ CLUB BLONDE”.
Kelly has made my own dreams come true!! For the last four years, I have performed “Youth is Wasted on the Young” and “Club Blonde” with Kelly at various events including the last four Silver Dollar Balls, the NASA Go Texan TrailRide Dinner Dance, the Seabrook Music Festival, and the very cool Mucky Duck in Houston.
