July 4th Weekend Events 

Something is always happening on Galveston Island and the 4th of July weekend is especially promising. From parades, art appreciation, Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn the island will be bustling.  

  • Independence Day Parade 10am downtown at 25th and Santa Fe Place. The The parade begins at 10am at Santa Fe Place and 25th Street, winds its way through historic downtown Galveston, followed by a patriotic celebration at the Galveston Island Railroad Museum.(Correct)  Free lemonade and hotdogs following the parade at the Railroad Museum. Fireworks 20 minute fireworks spectacular over Galveston Island's beach at 9:15pm. The event will take place at 37th & Seawall Boulevard. 
  • Art in the Park- A free open air market Saturday July 5 in Saengarfest Park at 10am. Sixteen booths and 23 artists display original art work free for all to see. 
  • ArtWalk- Not a street festival, ArtWalk takes place in existing commercial galleries, non-profit arts spaces and what are called "other walls," restaurants and retail stores, for example. Each exhibits art and welcomes viewers with open doors, later hours and refreshments. Begins at 6pm in the Historical Downtown District.
