Barbara Elaine HaynieBarbara Elaine Haynie, 63, slipped from this life into the arms of Jesus Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont, Galveston, Texas with Rev. Ray Meador officiating. Graveside services will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas. The family will receive visitors Monday, July 7, 2008, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Barbara was born October 23, 1944 to Morris Leon Jernigan and Leola Ruth Morgan Jernigan in Atmore, Alabama. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved country music, loved visiting with friends and lived her life the way she wanted to. She was of the Baptist faith.

Preceded in death by her father, Morris Leon Jernigan and her step-father, Jennings  A. Baer, Sr., Barbara is survived by her mother, Leola Ruth Baer of Galveston; daughter, Melissa Nelson and husband, Chris of Corpus Christi; son, Kenneth Howell and wife, Vickie of Florida; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Esther Davis and husband, Thomas of Memphis, Tennessee and Margaret Jernigan of Pensacola, Florida; brother, Jennings “Jack” Baer, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Friendswood, Texas; numerous other relatives and many friends.
