Joseph “Joe Green” Green
E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary
Joseph “Joe Green” Green, 102, received his reward of eternal rest on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his residence.
Joseph was born on August 22, 1905, in Norwood, LA to Samuel and Mary Parker Green. A longtime resident of Galveston, he was a retired laborer with Laborers Local Union #154 (formerly 116).
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Estella Green.
He leaves to cherish precious memories a devoted daughter, Charletta Howard of Galveston; four grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lillie Parker of Baton Rouge, LA, and Mary King of Jacksonville, FL; devoted niece, Idella Duncan; devoted friend, Johnny Tucker, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will begin at 4PM on Friday, July 18
th
followed by a wake from 7-8PM at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Progressive Baptist Church (909 40
th
St.) with Pastor W. E. Stevens officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mainland Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX.
