William E. "Bill" King, PC, with Bracewell and Giuliani, LLP, was the featured speaker at a general membership meeting of the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership at Bailey's American Grille.
The members were welcomed by BAHEP President Bob Mitchell and King was introduced by BAHEP Chair Dr. Bernard Milstein.

King, a former mayor of Kemah and a likely candidate for mayor of Houston, has served on the Governor's Task Force on Evacuation and a local task force to study hurricane preparedness. He has served on the Greater Houston Partnership's Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the Houston-Galveston Area Council's Transportation Policy Council.
The topic of King's address was "Transportation: Infrastructure & Mobility".

"There are a lot of us who believe that congestion is actually getting worse faster outside the peak periods and that the peak periods are getting longer," King said referring to a study of congestion.

King recommended that the BAHEP members take a proactive approach to encourage transportation improvement.
"Send a clear signal to our elected officials that relieving traffic congestion is our priority," King said, urging the elected officials to "make investments that have the highest cost-benefit ratio for reducing congestion."
