Margarita “Momo” AlcocerMargarita “Momo” Alcocer 60 of Galveston died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Monday, July 28, 2008 at Reina De La Paz Catholic Church in Galveston. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the funeral home and a Rosary will be recited at 7 P.M.

Born July 17, 1948 in El Ebanito, Viejo, Mexico, Margarita was a member of Reina De La Paz Catholic Church of Galveston, Texas. She was preceded in death by  her parents Apolonia and Eliodoro Garcia; a sister, Dolores Esqueda; a father-in-law, Jose Alcocer, Sr.; and a niece Esmi Torres. Survivors include her husband of 40 years Raul Alcocer, Sr.; daughters, Santos M. Alcocer and husband Joshua, Silvia De La Garza and husband David; son, Raul Alcocer, Jr. and wife Petra Elvia; grandchildren Veronica, David Jr., Victoria and Samuel De La Garza, Angelica, Raul III, Jose E. Alcocer and Christian Jo-Eli Gailley; mother-in-law, Santos Alcocer; sisters, Anita Martinez and husband Gregory, Sr., Guadalupe Garza and husband Guadalupe, Sr., Rosario Mejia and husband Salvador Serrano and Juanita Martinez; Brother, Fidencio Perez; brother-in-laws, Ismael Alcocer and wife Maria O., Jose Alcocer, Jr. And wife Maria F., Jesus Alcocer and wife Francisca, Pedro Alcocer and wife Jamie, Juan Alcocer and wife Armida; sister-in-laws, Maria S. Cavazos and husband Luis A., Maria T. Salinas and husband Estolfo, Rosa V. Torres and husband Fernando Jr., Esther Valdivia and husband Benjamin.; aunt, Teofila Montelongo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Raul Alcocer, Sr., Raul Alcocer, Jr., Raul Alcocer, III. David De La Garza, Sr., David De La Garza, Jr., Joshua Gailley Honorary Pallbearers will be Vero, Lica, Vicky, Sammy, Lolo and Jo-Eli.
