Doris Ernestine PedrosoDoris Ernestine Pedroso, 92, of Galveston passed away August 2, 2008 at Triumph Hospital of Clear Lake in Webster, Texas. Funeral services will be held at Moody Methodist Church at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 with Rev. Drew Webber officiating.  Graveside services will follow at Bay’s Chapel Cemetery in Richards, Texas at 3:00 pm. Visitation will be Monday, August 4, from 5:00 pm until 8:00pm at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home at 1201 Tremont in Galveston, Texas.

Ernestine was born January 26, 1916 in Richards, Texas.  She was the first born child of Olive (Bay) Leonard and William Walter Leonard of Bay’s Chapel, Texas. She graduated from high school in Richards, Texas and received her BS from Sam Houston State University.  She was employed for many years at Amoco in Texas City.

Ernestine is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pedroso, her only brother Walter Cross and wife Dorothy (Kemp) Leonard.  She is survived by her devoted sister Marie (Leonard) Eitelbach of Friendswood, eight loving nieces and nephews and sixteen great nieces and nephews:  Patricia (Leonard) Gilder of Nederland and children Matt and Jennifer, Walter Leonard and wife Anita of La Mesa, CA, and daughter Sierra, Leonard Warren Eitelbach and wife Eloise of Houston and daughters Erin Delgado, Brooke Meyers and Megan, Frederick Eitelbach and wife Karen of Katy and children Lisa and Derek, Gerritt Eitelbach and wife Lori of Austin and daughters Kristen, Kymberly and Marissa, Elaine (Eitelbach) Dearmon of Fairhope, AL and children Elisabeth and Warren, Eric Eitelbach and wife Karen of Sargent and son Jason, Laurie (Eitelbach) Rogers of LaPorte and sons Logan and Cameron.

Ernestine, modest and unassuming, never realized how many lives were made better for having known her.  Her many friends were drawn to her by her kindness and generosity of spirit.  She was a brilliant woman, keen of mind until her last days.  Her cherished independence was accompanied by absolute sincerity and honesty. She remained a member of the Methodist church from girlhood. Ernestine was a rare and wonderful woman.

Those who wish may make a memorial contribution in Ernestine’s name to Bay’s Chapel Cemetery Association in Richards, Texas.
