Edward Downing Futch III, M.D. Galveston – Ed went to be with his Lord on August 4, 2008 after a long illness. He was born on March 19, 1922 in Corpus Christi, Texas. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, he attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He served his country in the Navy, enlisting in 1942 and serving in the Pacific Theatre.
 
Ed married Sally McCullough on July 24, 1944. They have resided in Galveston since his discharge from the Navy. He was in private practice for 40 years until his retirement in 1992. Ed was a caring physician, an adoring husband, a sportsman, conservationalist and philanthropist.
 
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Sally, and various nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church, with Reverend David Green officiating. Graveside services will be private.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the Rosenberg Library, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, or Duck’s Unlimited.
