Helen Ebia StewartGALVESTON - Helen Ebia Stewart age 73, of Port Bolivar, Texas died Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at Harbourview Care Center in League City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 9, 2008 at First United Methodist Church of Port Bolivar with the Reverend Jeff Craft officiating. Burial will follow at Port Bolivar Cemetery under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home of Galveston. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday.

Helen was born November 3, 1934 in Port Bolivar, Texas to Clyde Wesley Guidry and Emily Bell Kahla Guidry. She grew up in Port Bolivar with all of the love and affection of a close community and remained faithful to it throughout all of her life. She ran several restaurants during her life and drove a school bus for GISD for many years before retiring. She was a lady who truly enjoyed working, and she spent many hours making crafts and working her garden in the company of her beloved Chihuahuas. Helen loved people and knew everyone, though her favorite people were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a faithful Christian woman and was a lifelong member of Port Bolivar First United Methodist Church.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Julius Stewart, Jr., step daughter, Debra LaFour, sister, Bonny Ray Guidry, and brother, Clyde Edward Guidry. Survivors include sons, Joe Guidry and wife Cindy of High Island, and R.D. Stewart and wife Francesca of Port Bolivar; sisters, Jane Ewing and husband David and Mary Kuykendall all of Port Bolivar; brother, Bernard Guidry and wife Shirley of Port Bolivar; granddaughters, Emily Lewis of Columbus, Texas, Shelley LaFour of Mont Belvieu, Texas, Heather Stewart and Courtney Stewart of Las Cruces, New Mexico; grandsons, Eddie Guidry and Junior Stewart of Port Bolivar; 6 great grandchildren; sisters in law, Alice Kelie of Hitchcock, and Annie Guidry of Port Bolivar; brothers in law, Albert Stewart of Hitchcock, Louis Stewart and wife JoAnn of Pearland, and Henry Stewart and wife Charlene of Texas City; son in law, Danny LaFour of Mont Belvieu; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers are Chad Ewing, Eddie Guidry, Jeff Guidry, Robert Greb, Murrell Lyon, Henry Stewart, Jr., Butch Barrow, and Joel Kuykendall.
