Henry Jefferson

On the first day of August, 2008, our Father in Heaven whispered to His beloved son, Henry Jefferson, that the windows of heaven were opened and that his room was prepared.
Henry was born August 9, 1944, in Wharton, Texas to the union of Edward Jefferson and Verdis L. Wiley.  Both parents preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of the 1962 class of Central High School.  Henry attended Prarie View and Wharton Jr. College where he majored in Agriculture.  Henry "HEJ" was a member of the Top Hat,  Imperial Men and was the founder of the 29th Street Social and Charity Club.  Henry was the owner and operator of Henry's Club #1 and #2.  In addition, he was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church where he served as a ChurchTrustee and President of the Senior Usher Board.
Left with precious and cherished memories of Henry are his daughters, Ulynda Davison (Ron); Francine Turner (Jerald); Frederica Ray (Charles) all of LaMarque, Texas; Gaylen Baines (Tachonia) of Houston, Texas; Brittany Jefferson of Galveston, Texas; LaShonda Bordelon (Kenneth) of Houston, Texas; sons, Todd Harris  of LaMarque, Texas; Troy Jefferson of Rosharon, Texas and Calvin Goodall; two devoted sisters, Thelma Frater of Galveston, Texas and Clara Williams (Sol Lee) of Wharton. Texas; one aunt, Clara Vernon of Wharton, Texas; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two godchildren; devoted cousin, Connie Waddall; dearly devoted friend, Elnora Evans and a host of nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at Wynn Funeral Home from 2-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2008, followed by a wake from 7-8:00 p.m.
The Homegoing Celebration will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2008,  at Mount  Moriah Baptist Church, 2728 Avenue K, Galveston, Texas.  Pastor Dexter Henderson will officiate.
Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
