Arturo HernandezArturo Hernandez, age 81, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on April 11, 1927 in Los Herraras, N.L. He was a longshoreman for over 20 years and was retired from ILA Local 20. He enjoyed spending time with family, barbequing, dancing and being outdoors.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a very dedicated and hardworking person. He also had a special bond and name for his grandkids.
 
He is preceded in death by his wife Anita Hernandez; and step-sons Ernie and Celso Vargas.
 
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth “Liz” Hernandez of Galveston and Juanita Alaniz of McAllen; step-daughters, Rita Mora, Sarah “Bebe” Garcia, Clara Grimaldo, Delores “Lola” Guarnelo and Anita Trevino.
 
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2008 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., with a memorial service at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home with Pastor Rudy Soto and Pastor Rogelio Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
 
Pallbearers will be Juan Cardona, Sergio Gutierrez, Ricardo Ramos, Rudolfo Garcia, Mario Monsivais, Juan Cantu and Arturo Cantu. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Richard Vargas, Steven Grimaldo, Tommy Grimaldo, Efren Villarreal, Frank Moya, Tracy Garcia, Mike Vargas, Fred Hernandez and Dominic Greyson; and ILA Local 20 Members
 
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center CCU 3rd floor faculty and staff of the Heart and Vascular Hospital.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Heart and Vascular Association of Houston, 3030 Edgewater Blvd., Sugar Land, Texas 77478 or to UTMB Division of Cardiology, 301 University Blvd., Galveston, Texas 77555-0148.
