Theodore (Ted) Miller

Theodore (Ted) MillerMr. Theodore (Ted) Miller, age 78, passed away on August 11, 2008 at his home in Galveston, Texas. Born on May 30, 1930 to the late Steven and Olga Miller, he moved with his family to Galveston in 1932. He graduated from Ball High and attended Allen Academy and the University of Houston. After serving six years in the United States Navy, he returned to Galveston where he lived the rest of his life. Over the years, Mr. Miller owned and operated several businesses on the island to include a Texaco service station, the Dutch Kettle, the Mariner motel, the bowling alley and other ventures.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his brother Pete Miller. The list of those that he leaves behind is long. Among them are long time girlfriend Nellie Zapata, his three sisters, Ethel Radovich, Sylvia Spain and Liz Wright, as well as his five children, Ted Miller, II and wife Liz, Cindy Snokhous and husband Tim, Sherry Miller and husband Tom, Greg Miller and wife Angie, and Michelle Nunez and husband Johnnie. In addition, there are eleven grandchildren, plus four step-grandchilden, Teddy III, Cheri, Joey, Lori, Travis, Bridget, Stacy, Wesley, Nicolette (Nicky), Christina (Tina), Kelly, Jennifer, Johnnie Jr., Annie and Christina. His legacy also includes four great-grandchildren, Teddy IV, Terry, Helen and Briana; many long time friends including Al Redmond, Nick Raftis and Sammy Stathakos. Also, his loving dog Hercules who will miss him incredibly.
A visitation will be held at on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a Trisagion service to begin at 6:00 P.M. Mr. Miller’s many family members and friends who will miss him are invited to a service to be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, August 15, 2008 at The Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, with Father David Eckley officiating. Interment will follow at the Greek Orthodox Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Radovich, Bryan Radovich, Stephen Bradley Wright, Michael Andrew Wright, Travis Snokhous and Mike Miller.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Snokhous, Tom Newton, Johnnie Nunez, Sr., Robert Daniel Taylor, Jr. and Randy Risher.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to everyone who has participated in his care through this difficult time, from the Doctors and nurses at UTMB, to the nurses and caregivers at Amedisys Home Healthcare and select providers at Hospice Care Team, Inc. There are numerous individuals who assisted both him and the family during this time and we will be forever grateful to each of you for the care and compassion you have shown. A very Special Thanks is given to the Home Healthcare Providers that were with us during this last year which are James and LaVernon Shine, Thelma Terry, Doni Julion and Kim Hubbard of which we could not have done this without you. Thank each and everyone of you, please know you will always have a place in our hearts.
The family would also like to give special thanks and acknowledge Nellie Zapata who has been an incredible help through this difficult time; my God Bless you and Keep you.
