Malloy & Son Funeral Home
Filiberto Cortes, 56, of Galveston, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008, at UTMB Hospital.
The family will receive visitors after 4:00 pm, Tuesday, August 26
th
, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm, led by minister, Luis Fernandez.
Filiberto was born August 22, 1952, in Mexico City, Mexico. He worked in maintenance for the San Luis Hotel. Filiberto loved to play soccer and was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witness.
Filiberto was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Isabel Cortes, and his brother, Jose Cortes.
He is survived by his wife, Carolina Cortes; daughters, Nancy and Alejandra Cortes; all of Galveston; sisters, Carmen, Isabel, and Imelda Cortes; brothers, Alfonso Cortes, all of Mexico, and Angel Cortes, of Galveston; and numerous other relatives and spiritual brothers in Galveston.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to UTMB Department of Cardiology; Dr. Michael Coerner; and the UTMB ER Staff for their compassionate care.
