Christina Maria Miranda OntiverosChristina Maria Miranda Ontiveros, 87, of Galveston, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008, after a lengthy illness.


Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Saturday, September 6th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Niall Nolan as Celebrant.  Burial will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston.


Christina’s family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Friday, September 5th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  A rosary will conclude the evening at 7:30 pm, led by Father Gerald Lewis, SVD.


Christina was born July 24, 1921, in Galveston, TX.  She resided in Monterrey, Mexico throughout her childhood and returned to Galveston at the age of 25, wherein she met and married the now deceased Ignacio “Chico” Ontiveros.  Christina was a housewife and mother who enjoyed life with a passion by cooking, working in her garden, and raising her grandchildren.  Christina was a very compassionate and loving mother who will be missed by her surviving son, Louis Ontiveros, of Sugarland, TX; daughters, Patricia Ontiveros, of Houston; Mary Ann Murray and her husband, Keith, of Austin, TX; and Gracie Ontiveros, of Texas City.  She is also survived by her brother, Victor Miranda, of Texas City; and sisters, Frances Troncozo, of Texas City; Theresa Villarreal, of Houston; and Maria Louisa of Ceralbo, Mexico; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
