Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

On Saturday, September 6, 2008, angels gathered at the bedside of Sherman Burts to carry him to the arms of Jesus. Many loved ones were waiting inside the pearly gates to join in the celebration, including his wife Fannie Burts, daughter, Vera Walker, granddaughter, Vanessa Walker, his parents Archie Burts and Rosie Leverson-Burts, sisters, Lizzie Spears, Mary Porch, brothers, Dan Burts, Archie Burts, Jr., and a host of other relatives and friends.

The celebration service will be 12:00 noon, Thursday, October 2, 2008 in the chapel of Carnes Funeral Home 3100 I-45 North, Texas City, with the Reverend Michael Dwyer officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughters, Lovie Morrow and husband John of North Highlands, California, Sherma Loftis and husband James of Tyler, Texas; devoted son, Curtis Burts of Galveston; 10 grandchildren, Janell Morrow, Nancy Morrow, Lisa Morrow Stearne all of North Highlands, California, Cassandra Loftis of Tyler, Angela Loftis of Austin, James Loftis, Jr. and wife Shannon, Sonya Loftis, M.D., Curtis Loftis and wife Teri all of Dallas, Velita Walker of Galveston, Sherman Walker of Austin, 9 great grandchildren, Ezell Malik Morrow, Jasmine Morrow, Andreas Pargulski, Karly Loftis, Kelly Loftis, Kassie Loftis, Jordyn Loftis, Kylie Loftis and Xavier Walker, numerous other relatives and many friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of UTMB Galveston, and the Guardian Angel Home Health, Mother Frances Tyler, Mel Rose Nursing and Colonial Tyler Care Center.
