Delores “Skeet” Washington, 76, passed from this life into eternal rest on Thursday, October 2, 2008 in Galveston, Texas. She was born on November 4, 1931 in Galveston, Texas to the late Herman Washington and Selena L. Fulton.
Delores was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where she served with the Hospitality Committee. She was the manager and co owner of Selena’s Blue Room.
Delores was preceded in death by her son, Floyd Phillips; daughter, Norva Phillips Mark; parents, Herman Washington and Selena L. Fulton; grandmother, Pearl Johnson; granddaughter, Misty Demar, and great grandson, Derrick Phillips.
Her memories will linger forever in the hearts of her loving family; son, John “Tony” Phillips; grandson, Charles Robinson, Jr. (Christina); granddaughter, Destin Simmons (Renard); half- brother, Herman Johnson; cousin, Dorethea Wynne (Willie); 18 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, close friends, Leon Banks, Jr.; Patricia Stovall, Denise Allen Smith; Minnie Jackson; Alfreda Stinson; her Island Dialysis Buddies, numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at the Avenue L Baptist Church followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 AM, with her Pastor Norris Burkley, Sr. officiating. She will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Avenue L Baptist Church, 2612 Avenue L c/o E R Johnson Family Mortuary.
