Edward T. Martin, Jr.
E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary

Edward T. Martin, Jr. was born to Edward, Sr. and Laura Mae Richardson Jones on November 4, 1944, in Galveston.  He graduated from Central High School with the class of 1963.  Mr. Jones played football for Central High, he also excelled academically.  After high school he attended culinary school, he then embarked on a career as a Merchant Seaman.  He later married Joann Jones and from this union, Keela Nicole Jones was born.  Mr. Jones then started a career at UTMB as a C.N.A. he also worked for Texas Home Health until his health begin to fail.  He was a member of Shiloh A.M. E. Church.  He was a dedicated family man, helping to raise his niece, Tanya.  He also was the caregiver for his grandmother Mary Lee Richardson and aunts Virginia Martin.  Mr. Jones received his heavenly reward on Tuesday, October 7, 2008.                                

He was preceded in death by his mother and step father: Laura and George Applin; sister: Edna M. Jones; grandmother: Mary L. Richardson; grandfather: Henry O. Jones; aunts: Virginia Martin, Montez Viser; cousins: Xavier Pratt, Sr., Robert De Jon Pratt III; stepson: Craig Curry.

He is survived by wife: Elaine Burns; daughter: Keela Prudhomme; father:  E.T. Jones, Sr. (Lurlene); brother: J. C. Jones (Deborah); aunt: Mary  Ann Jones; nephew: James C. Jones, Jr.; devoted nieces: Tanya Applin: Pat Pratt (Robert); nieces: Rhonda, Jamie, Vicky Jones; devoted friends: Sam Gainer; Robert Scott; James Washington, Jr.; Carl Francis; numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He will be greatly missed.

A service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 20, 2009, at the Avenue L Baptist Church with Rev Darryl Richardson officiating.
