Pauline Brick passed away at home on Sunday, October 26, 2008. She was born in Dallas, Texas, on April 25, 1910. Her parents were Paul John Creel and Nellie Gray Creel. Pauline lived in Galveston and attended school at St. Mary’s Cathedral School until the seventh grade. She attended Sacred Heart Academy (Dominican High School) as a boarder, and graduated in 1928.
Pauline was baptized by Father Kirwin, in Galveston, and in 1917, made her First Communion and Confirmation at St. Mary’s Cathedral. She married Patrick Scott Brick on August 19, 1930. After 55 years of marriage, Mr. Brick passed away in 1985.
In the sixties, Pauline volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital as a Pink Lady. When St. Mary’s Cathedral Thrift Shop opened in 1967, she volunteered as a worker for 29 years. She retired in 1996. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Brick Flinn, two grandchildren, Edward Flinn and Allison Hanzawa, and one great-granddaughter, Haley Hanzawa.
Pauline’s family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A rosary will be held at 6:00 pm, led by Deacon Robert Standridge.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Thursday, October 30, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Niall Nolan as Celebrant. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Mike Flinn, Barry Flinn and Pauline’s nephews, Dain Whitworth, Robert Whitworth, John Brick, and Jordan Lera.
