Florida Wall Knight Stuckey
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home
Florida Wall Knight Stuckey age 92, of Galveston died peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Turner Geriatric Center in Galveston. Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, November 4, 2008 , at Edgewater Retirement Chapel in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home of Galveston, with the Reverend Cheryl Smith officiating.
Florida was born July 3, 1916 in Tampa, Florida to Clarke Knight and Volina Mitchell Knight. She was a faithful member of West Isle Presbyterian Church where she loved to sing in the choir. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband of 64 years, John W. Stuckey, Jr. survivors include sons, Clarke Stuckey of New Braunfels, Texas; and John R. Stuckey and wife Julie and grandchildren, Amy and Keith Stuckey all of Friendswood; numerous other relatives and many friends.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Edgewater Retirement Community for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Stuckey.
Originally Florida’s memorial services were scheduled for Friday, September 12, 2008 the day of the great storm of 2008 which was also her wedding anniversary. It was important to her that if at all possible her service be at her beloved church where she and her husband faithfully served for many years, but Ike left the church and many other houses of worship, homes and businesses in disarray. With that in mind the family would request memorials be sent to the Edgewater Retirement Community, Methodist Retirement System 2228 Seawall Blvd. Galveston, Texas 77550, or your own church or even to a friend who may be in need at this time.
Friends may sign the register book and send the family condolences at
